Projection of your voice when leading a session is important to conveying confidence and keeping your audience engaged. As soon as an audience is unable to hear you, they become distracted, frustrated, and their minds start to wander.Ā
Projection and shouting are NOT the same thing.Ā
Just because you can be loud does not mean you are able to project. If you are loud and can increase the volume of your voice, doesn’t mean you can project.Ā
Shouting is directionally focused and will come across as shrill. Not to mention, your voice will wear out faster.
A great starting point to projection is to set the appropriate mindset. Your goal should be is to envision your voice filling every square inch of the room that you are in.
It is also important you are not breathing too fast and your jaw and vocal cords are relaxed.
