The Art Form
20+ year commitment
1,000+ trainers and presenters coached/developed/certified
10,000+ hours dedicated to honing my craft
This level of commitment and dedication to a craft I absolutely love has taught me one thing:
The skillsets of presenting and facilitating are art forms
There are several I have seen throughout my journey that capture their audience’s attention and more importantly maintain it.
The great ones make it look easy due to their commitment to the craft. Unfortunately, this leads many to think it is easy to get in front of a group and do what the great ones do.
In order to achieve a level of greatness, there are many nuances in which to be accounted.
Imagine a painter. He/she did not wake up one morning with the ability to capture color textures and brush strokes then translate that into a painting of a glorious sunset. There was a dedication to skill refinement.
Effectively presenting to an audience or facilitating a training class is no different.
Posture, word choice, eye contact, movement, opening, closing, pacing, breathing…. the list goes on.
While these are artists are trying to be aware of these nuances, they are reacting to what the audience is giving them (e.g. reactions and questions).
To all my fellow passionate presenters and trainers, I see you! I appreciate you!
Continue honing your craft!
